DinnerBeat is a free service created to help busy people get healthy meals on the table - and save them time and money in the process. Going to the grocery store with a list reduces impulse purchases and ensures that you will have what you need to make dinner, eliminating the need for last-minute dashes back to the store. Planning ahead leads to fewer dinners out, and generally much cheaper and healthier meals.
DinnerBeat is absolutely free!
From the home page (you can get there by clicking the banner), choose a day on the calendar. Then choose the dish you would like to schedule. Then click "Schedule This!" that appears on the right across from the words "Selected Dish."
On the home page, click "Add a new recipe!" from your Recipe Box. Fill in the recipe details and choose "Submit."
When you search for recipes, the owner of the recipe will show up behind the title. If their profile is public, you will be able to see it. From there, you can send them a message or add them to your friend list.
Choose "Friends" from the menu at the top of the page. Choose a friend from the list on the left to see what that friend has scheduled for today.
Choose "Shopping List" from the menu at the top of the page. It will automatically show you your list for the next week, including today. If you want to change those dates, just input new dates into the boxes and click "Change these dates." The "Print your Shopping List" button at the top of the page will print the items shown, plus any additional items entered into the box at the bottom of the page (at this time they will all be added to the grocery section.)
Choose "Find Recipes" from the menu at the top of the page. Enter your recipe name or desired ingredient in the box. Your search will result first in recipes with that term in the title, then any recipes with that term in the ingredients or procedure. If you don't find a recipe to your liking in the DinnerBeat database, you can scroll to the bottom of the list and click the button to search Google. You'll need to cut and paste any recipe you find into your recipe box.
Choose "Friends" from the menu at the top of the page. Search for a friend by email address. If they are not already part of the DinnerBeat community, you will be taken directly to a screen from which you may send them an invitation email. The email will not be sent until you click the "Send Email" button on the invitation screen.
DinnerBeat can automatically schedule your main dishes. It picks dishes randomly, weighted by your rating. For example, a dish you have rated as 5 stars will be 5 times more likely to appear than a dish rated with one star. Unrated dishes will be weighted as if they had one star. To have DinnerBeat schedule your meals, go to the home page. If you are on another page, you can return to the home page by clicking on the banner. Fill in the number of days you want it to schedule, and click <Go!>
