The Food Gadget of the Month is all about form, function and style. This handy gizmo, called the + / - hot plate, was designed by Ami Drach and Dov Ganchrow for the Dining in 2015 competition. In today’s modern world, the ceramic plate is a throwback to our ancestors who have been using it for hundreds of years. According to the designers, their creation “…combines ceramic and technology together…using the conductive properties of silk-screened gold and amorphic metal films (in the same manner printed circuit boards or car windshield defrosters work)”.

Now that you can cook your food directly on your plate, that’ll definitely cut down the time it takes to prepare dinner! If only they could make it clean itself…
